Endemic to the northern California coast, from Sonoma to Santa Cruz County. Delicate-looking; it prefers open scrubby areas with sunlight, but grows on a range of soils including disintegrating serpentine, gravelly and sandy soils. It is fairly easily cultivated in gardens.
